6 WAYS YOU CAN BE MENTALLY TOUGH
Mental toughness is a measure of individual resilience and confidence that may lead to success in sport, education and the workplace. As a broad concept, it emerged in the context of sports training, in the context of a set of attributes that allow a person to become a better athlete and able to cope with difficult training and difficult competitive situations and emerge without losing confidence.
But it is interesting, it can take any form from showing resilience against attack, calmness in the face of uncertainty, persistence through pain, or focus amidst chaos. To live effectively in this present time, it is important one develop mental toughness.
Make a Decision
Being mentally tough is not just a sweet attribute like you will want your friends to call you by a nickname. It all demand that you stand your ground on issues. This is in no way connotative, it is just as literal as it appears. Being strong mentally is, more than anything, a decision to do so no matter the circumstance. You can actually start small with the little things and work your way up to the top.
Learn to be Persistent
Persistent doesn’t sound rosy right? That is just it. It means that you will need to be patient with situations most especially when what you are expecting is not forthcoming.
As long as you keep letting every small or big thing bring you down, as long as you continue to give reasons and excuses for giving up or being unable to put in more effort to achieve your goal, you will remain weak or eventually give up totally on the possibility of making any achievement at all. Umpteen time, the fact that nothing is happening doesn’t mean you are not making any progress, all you need do might just be waiting for a short while life fixes stuff by itself.
Tackle Your Fears
Face your fear head on. How badly you need to succeed depends on much more on how ready you are to tackle your fears. You know too well that in order to be a great swimmer, you need to conquer Aquaphobia. Dealing with phobias first land one into that great pace he is trying to achieve. Never you permit fear to control how far you can go in life. What we think could be frightful might just be a prolonged feeling of ‘I can’t do it’ you’ve nursed for a long time. So go now and overcome it.
Share your problems
You can’t actually stand alone in most of the life situations, so why keep the unpleasant situations to yourself when you can actually discuss with a trusted councilor, a friend or even a colleague. Talking to people about your fear keeps you stronger and tougher in the face of the trouble of life. Notice, often when friends pour their heart out in form of an advice, certain tones of motivation is being released and with that alone, you can shoot high into the sky.
Take on Challenges that will drill you a bit
This happened to be one of the best ways to be tough. Embarking on assignment that wouldn’t in any way cost you anything is not unique, but when you take the bull by the horn and most especially on task that demands lot of action, then your five senses will come alive and be harnessed to go in the direction leading to your breakthrough and before you know it, you see yourself achieving some great feat.
Dream Great
Dreams are great. They’re a great motivational force and help keep you focused, but dreams are also largely things you fantasize about. We all know fantasies don’t always become reality. You, therefore, have to learn to convert your dreams to goals. Set SMART goals and work to achieve them. When you successfully achieve these goals, it helps to build a sense of confidence and accomplishment in you that’s great for strengthening your mental toughness.
Commitment
There is the need to learn to be committed to whatever you decide to do. Commitment causes your mind to be so focused. You can’t be half committed and expected result. Only tough people can stand the test of time and scale through to the platform where the crown is received. Refuse to compromise and don’t beat yourself up or give up because of some failures along the way. Be resilient, be persistent and do not give up until the end. Once you learn commitment, you will be surprised at just how powerful this tool is.
To fly high in any industry you might find yourself, you need to work on your desire for greatness and get engaged in some mental building activity. It actually will help your mental faculty respond well. Mental toughness builds your mind, your intellect and makes you outstanding among peers.

Buhari: 12 million Nigerian children are afraid of attending school

post-image

According to President Buhari, 12 million children in the country have been traumatized and are frightened to attend  school because of the high prevalence of kidnapping.

On Tuesday, October 26, the President announced this during the launch of the Safe School Programme in Abuja.

The President, who was represented at the ceremony by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, also stated that dealing with security concerns in the country has been difficult.

“The incessant attacks on the country’s education system such as kidnapping, abduction of pupils/students, increased activities of insurgence and general insecurity in our schools have exacerbated many factors responsible for the growing number of out-of-school children.

It is disheartening to note that even when the abducted students are released, the trauma of the incidences remains long in their minds; hence the plan to have teachers trained on psycho-social support.

APC: Nigerians still trust us, we will win 2023 elections convincingly

post-image

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims it would “convincingly” win the next gubernatorial election in Anambra and the presidential election in 2023.

John Akpanudoedehe, national secretary of the APC caretaker committee, said on Thursday, October 21 at the inauguration of the state congress appeal committee in Abuja that all members of the APC should see disagreements “within the party as family disputes and should not seek to destroy the platform which helped them in the past.”

“With the huge membership strength we have recorded during the last registration and revalidation exercise, there is no doubt that Nigerians still trust us and that we will win all the upcoming elections convincingly, starting from the governorship elections in Anambra, to Osun, Ekiti, and to the 2023 general election,” he said.

“Therefore, there is a greater need to sustain the trust of our party men and women and indeed all Nigerians.
