Asthma is a disease that can be deadly and simple things may trigger its attack on the victim even when they seem not to be aware of it.

An asthma patient is different from other people because of the breathing problem associated with the disease. This is why a person suffering from asthma or if he or she is a family member, certain precautions must be put in place.

There are a lot of things a person suffering from asthma should avoid doing in the kitchen because it can lead to an attack. Here are they:

  • Avoid frying Palm oil: frying palm oil brings out a particular kind of flame and if it is not quickly curtailed or stopped, it may affect a person suffering from asthma negatively or lead to an attack.
  • Avoid Frying pepper: when frying pepper that is very hot, the environment becomes very unhealthy especially for those suffering from asthma. It can lead to a dangerous attack even as someone who is not suffering from asthma, will start coughing incessantly.
  • Avoid Grilling or Roasting: Roasting, Grilling are kitchen activities that emit smoke and these should be avoided by an asthma patient as it poses danger to his/her health.
  • Avoid cooking with Firewood: cooking with firewood is highly dangerous for the health especially for those suffering from a respiratory disease like asthma. This should be strictly avoided so as to remain healthy.
  • Avoid inhaling gas fumes: when you turn on your gas cooker before lighting it, it releases fume and this fume is very dangerous for an asthmatic patient because it releases dangerous substances that when it gets down into the lungs can trigger asthma symptoms.

The permanent cure for asthma may not be available at the moment but it is still possible for asthmatic patients to live a healthy life if they can avoid certain things that can lead to attacks.

One important thing for asthmatic patients who cook to note is that there must be enough ventilation in the kitchen and the inhaler must also not be far away in case of crisis.
