There is no gainsaying in the fact that a healthy lifestyle can make one live longer and also look younger, but if you form bad habits, it will take a toll on our health because of the way you treat your body.

Some people might argue that genetics determines how our body will age, but when you don’t take care of your body and insist that your family genetics will take care of it, you might be disappointed in the long run.

No matter how long it takes, we’ll eventually age, but aging gracefully and beautifully is something most of us want. However, if you crave to age that way, there are some bad habits you need to avoid to achieve a healthy, glowing and ageless body!

1. Sleep deprivation

Sleeping is one of the most essential activities carried out by every living thing, and it’s important can never be overemphasized! According to experts, an adult needs 7 to 9 hours of sleep for good health, but so many people deprive themselves of this needed amount of sleep, and apart from the adverse effects it can cause on our health, sleep deprivation can make one age faster!

However, if depriving yourself from sleep is not intentional and you’re suffering from sleep disorders like ‘Insomnia’ or ‘Narcolepsy’, then you should visit a doctor or professional in the field.

2. Avoiding fruits and vegetables

So many people are not fans of vegetables or even fruits, but if you want to have a glowing and ageless skin, then you need to start considering taking fruits and vegetables.

We often get hungry at odd times of the day and opt for junks or snacks which are bad for our health because of their high calories. So, it’s advisable to replace those junk foods with fruits and vegetables which are high in healthy nutrients. This will not only make your skin look young and beautiful, but will also help your general digestive system.

3. Lack of exercise

Before you roll your eyes at this, you should know that I’m not talking about extensive and strenuous workouts, but simple exercises that will help in maintaining physical fitness and overall health.

Simple exercises like, jogging, running, stretching, rope skipping and even walking will go a long way in helping you look fit, healthy and ageless!

4. Excessive drinking and smoking

As the popular saying goes, “Too much of everything is bad”, which is exactly why too much drinking and smoking is bad for your health and should be avoided!

Alcohol consumption will not only increase the levels of ‘triglycerides’ – fat/lipid found in the body, but will also allow wrinkles and lines to appear on your body at an early age. Alcohol also depletes or reduces vitamin A, which is essential for keeping the body strong and youthful.

On the other hand, the side effect of smoking is something most of us are familiar with. One of the major reasons why smoking cause ageing is because it increases inflammation in the body which causes damage to the elastin protein of this skin, thus causing wrinkles and sagging of the skin. If you can quit drinking and smoking entirely, it’ll positively affect your general body health.

5. Accumulating stress and holding grudges

Stress is one of the most emotionally disorienting factors that so many people go through. However, most people accumulate stress even when it could have been avoided!

Although people’s mindset and perspective on things differ, and there are so many activities that can cause stress. It’s advisable to learn how to avoid or manage stress because it can cause several physical, emotional and psychological damage which will ultimately lead to rapid ageing.

Just like accumulating stress, holding grudges can also make one age faster because it’s also a stress factor that affects one mentally and emotionally, thereby weakening one’s body tissues and bringing about rapid wrinkles and sagging of the body. If you want to have a young and ageless body, it’s important to let go of things, drink water and stay happy!

These are some bad habits that make you age faster and causes adverse effects on your health, and should be avoided for a young, glowing and ageless body!

post-image

According to President Buhari, 12 million children in the country have been traumatized and are frightened to attend  school because of the high prevalence of kidnapping.

On Tuesday, October 26, the President announced this during the launch of the Safe School Programme in Abuja.

The President, who was represented at the ceremony by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, also stated that dealing with security concerns in the country has been difficult.

“The incessant attacks on the country’s education system such as kidnapping, abduction of pupils/students, increased activities of insurgence and general insecurity in our schools have exacerbated many factors responsible for the growing number of out-of-school children.

It is disheartening to note that even when the abducted students are released, the trauma of the incidences remains long in their minds; hence the plan to have teachers trained on psycho-social support.

APC: Nigerians still trust us, we will win 2023 elections convincingly

post-image

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims it would “convincingly” win the next gubernatorial election in Anambra and the presidential election in 2023.

John Akpanudoedehe, national secretary of the APC caretaker committee, said on Thursday, October 21 at the inauguration of the state congress appeal committee in Abuja that all members of the APC should see disagreements “within the party as family disputes and should not seek to destroy the platform which helped them in the past.”

“With the huge membership strength we have recorded during the last registration and revalidation exercise, there is no doubt that Nigerians still trust us and that we will win all the upcoming elections convincingly, starting from the governorship elections in Anambra, to Osun, Ekiti, and to the 2023 general election,” he said.

“Therefore, there is a greater need to sustain the trust of our party men and women and indeed all Nigerians.
