A 24-year-old Woman has been dragged before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pouring hot water on a pregnant woman.
Semiat Azeez, who lives in Alapupu area of Okinni in the Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, was arraigned for brutalizing one Rukayat Lukuman with hot water laced with suspected poisonous substances, after a minor misunderstanding.
Addressing the court, the police prosecutor, Inspector Abiodun Fagboyinbo, explained that the incident occurred around 8.30pm on November 16, 2018, during a minor misunderstanding between Rukayat and Semiat, who both reside in the same neighbourhood.
The magistrate, Modupe Awodele, condemned the action of the accused, saying the victim could have lost her life to the attack.

The victim, however, pleaded that the accused should be pardoned.
She insisted that she was no longer interested in pressing charges against the accused.
Despite the plea of the victim, Awodele ordered the family of the accused to bring her mother to the court during the next hearing.
The magistrate said she would only discharge Semiat after seeing her mother, and adjourned the case till December 21, 2018.
