Fifteen people who were on their way to worship at a hill in Kebbi state have been confirmed dead after a boat mishap occurred in the River Niger at Yauri area of Kebbi State.

The passengers on the boat were said to be leaving Jeribabo in Yauri for Teteku in Niger State when the accident occurred.

According to Daily Trust, Area Manger of National Inland Waterways Authority in charge of Yauri, Malam Bissallah Abubakar confirmed that 19 of the victims on the boat when the accident occurred were rescued while four others were still missing.

The Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency( NEMA), Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, Malam Suleiman Muhammed said the officials of the NEMA were already at Yauri to control the situation.
